So, now the question is, why does the virtual drive, say H:/, opens the folder and shows all files when I mount a(ny) image file but doesn't seem to run the program as the actual drive, say G:/, does? Is it possible to undo MS disabled autorun for virtual drive (PowerISO is the program, not Daemon Tools or any other)?

And, sorry I forgot to add that no ISO image file runs on click, even if created from a DVD/CD that normally runs when inserted in the G:/ drive.

1351109 2013-08-13 21:14:00 The auto run being disabled by updates may or may not be the problem, I'll have a bit of a play around as well to see if I can replicate your problem.

But to enable the auto run again, if you go to support.microsoft.com roughly halfway down that page is a couple of "fixits" one says it will enable auto run. It may or may not work.

1351110 2013-08-13 23:17:00 Okay got it sorted - Kind of :)

replicated your events to the letter. Two options that worked for me on XP.

In PowerISO- making sure it loads on startup. Lot of pissing about but it worked.

Right click the ISO,mount, go to My computer, right click the Virtual drive/ISO - select autoplay - ISO runs.

2nd Option- download and install Virtual clone drive www.slysoft.com its the bottom one ( free)
WARNING be careful when installing, it wants to install AVG and some other CRAP- look at each window READ and untick, don't install as required.

Once installed, reboot. Now all your ISO's will look like a sheep, to run the ISO - simply double click the ISO, and it will run as if it were a CD/DVD.

INTERESTING:
Something that I just discovered as well-- when double clicking a ISO PowerISO would only mount the ISO, autorun wouldn't work. BUT after installing Virtual Clone Drive, and changing the PowerISO back to the default, NOW double clicking the ISO the Auto run works.
Suggest you install Virtual Clone, reset the PowerISo as the default (Options/Configuration/general tab-iso), reboot and see if it works now.

1351111 2013-08-14 16:00:00 Thank you so much, man! It works like a charm! The only limitation it has is inability to create ISO image file, for which I am using PowerISO. mdRASHIDkhi (16580)
