1328543 2013-02-18 06:11:00 I would not call it "sane" - all Chill did is what ALL Christians do with anything... CHERRY PICK the bits they like and ignore the rest....

I am afraid disc is right.

PC defined it for you and found the concept wanting.

1328545 2013-02-19 07:38:00 Back in the day it was "the norm" to pass things on by word of mouth. People took great pride in accurately conveying the information, stories etc, and passing it on, especially between generations.

I think the OP summed it up nicely with:
I have said it before Chiil. One day these SDA turned up at our place and quoted something from the bible and off the top of my fathers nut he quoted something that contradicted their quote. Well he did it to them three times before they left with there tail between their legs and I only ever knew him to go to church for weddings, funerals and christenings.

There is nothing accurate about most of the stories otherwise there wouldn't be so many contradictions.

Its completely believable especially the one about Jonah being eaten by a whale.

I presume you missed the part where I described how stories were passed on in the early first and second centuries? Sure it may not be 100% accurate, but I'm not sure that's *entirely* relevant to the requirement of a "faith" system. That is, after all, what faith is, right?

1328551 2013-02-20 08:31:00 I was asked recently by one of our god bods, how I thought the beauty that surrounded us could be, without a god.

I kick myself for not asking her where god came in re the 5 million children who were going to die this year of aids, starvation etc.

The minds ability to believe anything remains a mystery to me.
