1328061 2013-02-14 18:10:00 According to the website they don't pay tax because they operate as a charitible organisation not because of their ties to the church, any company can do that if they chose to. It does still put me off a bit but it's not quite as bad as it sounded at first.
Doesn't matter much to me anyway, if I like it I'll eat it and I won't concern myself with such things. Also I just plain don't like marmite, or vegemite for that matter.

1328062 2013-02-14 19:24:00 Not only have they tried shutting down the guy who is importing the only marmite worth eating but last year they tried to shut down a Nelson business for selling Weetabix an English product similar to Weetbix. The guy in question sold maybe one or two boxes a week, hardly going to put Sanitarium out of business. And there was me thinking the bible told it's followers to forgive and to be charitable gary67 (56)
1328063 2013-02-14 19:51:00 I use Sanitarium products. They do support the All Blacks and Kiwi Kids. Still have some Marmite in the cupboard. As zippity said who cares.

1328064 2013-02-14 20:09:00 I won't buy NZ made Marmite as after Sanitarium tried to bankrupt that Nelson shop keeper who tried to import a British golden jubilee special called Ma'mite. I think it's still going thru the courts here.. paulw (1826)

It was a Christchurch (Kaiapoi) shopkeeper and it's just been resolved yesterday, however they did try and do a Nelson shopkeeper as I outlined in my previous post

+1

Sanatarium-free household here. If they decide to pay-their-way like the rest of us, our decision on Sanatarium products may change
