| 1327825 | 2013-02-13 04:53:00 | Win8 is cheaper than Win7 in some places. Its 100 at NL. At HN its still 88 | Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||
| 1327826 | 2013-02-13 05:15:00 | Simple way is try it yourself before deciding - theres a 90 Day free trial, No Product key required its the Windows 8 Enterprise. You have to have a live account, but they are free. The only thing is, if you install it, then decide to buy, you HAVE to wipe your drive and start again, you cant change it to a paid version. This is where a spare drive would come in handy. Downloads are at the bottom of the page msdn.microsoft.com Just remember NO ONE can say if you will like it or hate it. Everyone is different, make up your own Mind. |

| 1327828 | 2013-02-13 09:32:00 | I haven't used it a huge ammount, but I can definitely tell it's a HELL of a lot better than the "old" computer method by miles! If you used win8 on a tablet you'd be saying "oh wow" but on a desktop/laptop your mind just doesn't click to the change of mentality. Microsoft have done an amazing job of unifying the PC/Tablet/Phone market, if people actually adapted they'd realize how great it is. The fact metro apps can run on all architectures is great too. A metro desktop app will run on your Surface and WP8 making a developers life massively easier. Once you get used to the changes you're sweet, kind of like adapting to a new keyboard (esp on laptops where the key layouts are a little tighter/wider) for the first few days you hit all the wrong keys but eventually you get the right ones. There are a few things I don't like, such as when you search from the start screen, lets say for "Partition" - to open the partition manager, the search returns nothing, since the 1st category displayed is... I forget what it is, anyway, I have to take my mouse, click on the next box down the click on Manage Partitions which is annoying. With the start menu I just typed the name and pressed enter. They should fix it so if the search returns no results in category X it moves on to category Y. |

But over years as people buy laptops with it they will get used to it. When 95 came out I missed the two window panes. But I am happy with my W7 at the moment |

This is where a spare drive would come in handy. Or install it to a VHD image. I think Windows 8 has some useful features (as any new OS inevitably does) but the radical GUI changes are going to be a problem for a lot of people, especially corporate customers as 1101 said, who likely only just got upgraded to Windows 7 from XP anyway, and probably see no reason to touch Windows 8 with a forty-foot barge pole. |

| 1327833 | 2013-02-14 01:12:00 | I think 7 will become the new XP for a while, corporate lots tend to skip a few OS generations anyway. | The Error Guy (14052) | ||
| 1327834 | 2013-02-14 02:04:00 | I have a dual boot set up and honestly hardly ever use 8. I just find it frustrating without touch and as a clicker don' t like being forced back to the keyboard to do things. I also don't get why they make it so awkward to close apps you are not using. There are a lot of improvements I like but the new interface isn't one of them. |
