1327486 2013-02-11 19:57:00 Spoke to my parents last night and they were amazingly unconcerned about it all.
I'm not allowed to give blood here due to being in England in the 90's as they say the CJD risk is too high

Yeah, same, and I left the UK in 1981. O_o

(I did a major literature review of nvCJD and BSE as part of my biology honours. Interesting stuff!)

then horse is fraud.
True but I bet if it was actually lamb or something instead of beef the fuss would be a whole lot less.

I'm in the same position having spent 2.5 years in the UK in the mid-eighties.

Just out of interest, are you aware of any increased occurrence of CJD in humans in the time since say the early nineties?

1327489 2013-02-11 21:08:00 Yes, but I grew up eating beef and lamp.
Horses are for glue.
Would you be the same if they had put or or monkey in it (its all meat)

And its the fact that they labelled it as beef that to me is criminal.
Beef lasagne or Horse lasagne

Beef burgers or horse burgers.

beef d'oeuvres or hors d'oeuvres...

There was an apparent increase of regular CJD (as compared to nvCJD) in the early 90's, but after researchers went back and looked at people who had been classified as Alzheimers and other related syndromes from years previous, they decided it was essentially just down to increased awareness of the symptoms.

I kept an eye on the literature until about 2006.

If it was lamb or pork or venison there would not be so much fuss.
But its still deceptive lableling and probably illegal.

What if it was cat or dog or monkey (all edible but not to most European cultural mores)
