1328407 2013-03-03 21:27:00 If the people of New Zealand are prepared to accept this nonsense more the fool them.

Time for the silent majority to say enough is enough.

Press for a referendum on the issue, we know what side of the argument has the numbers.

New Zealand is either one nation or it isn't.

You are absolutely right, but there is a problem as I understand it.

That problem is that although we are supposed to be a democracy, a "Citizens Initiated Referendum" is Non-binding upon the Government.

We saw this when a "Citizens Initiated Referendum" on revoking the “No Smacking Law” was ignored by Key & Co despite an 87% majority.

Anyway, my next vote will be with my feet across to your side of the Tasman. To this end I’m looking at “Gods Holding Paddock”, “Hervey Bay”, have you any thoughts on that, the place that is? :)

As I recall it was Clarke & Co that passed the "No Smacking Law" in the first place, but Key & Co who chose to ignore an 87% referendum vote to repeal that law.

In both cases it was to appease The Green's if I remember right and nothing to do with the people's wishes. :groan:

1328411 2013-03-04 02:00:00 If NZ Govt still owned the lake, & NZ Govt decided to charge COMMERCIAL USERS for use of the lake, would rednecks still be up in arms over all this??
Is it only because its Maori involved that the rednecks are so p8ss8d off??

from Stuff
"Ironman New Zealand and the iwi that owns Lake Taupo have reached a commercial agreement over its use for the triathlon, but are not saying what the deal involves.

The Tuwharetoa Maori Trust Board and Ironman NZ reached an agreement on Friday, but said the details were confidential.

The tribe owns the lake bed as part of a treaty settlement. Public access is guaranteed, but it is entitled to charge fees for commercial users of the lake."

Calling concerned citizens rednecks does your case no good.

Most interesting, so let’s examine what you are saying.

Of course nobody would be up in arms. The government charge people all the time for the use of State Owned Assets. The problem here is this State Owned Asset was given away on a Race Based basis and all things being equal, the money extorted will wind up in a Slush Fund somewhere.

Ok, so the extortion was successful, but to make matters worse the confidentiality stinks to high heaven.

So I guess it follows that seeing Key and Co have given Maori the Foreshore and Seabed also, then all Commercial Activity involving the Foreshore and Seabed will be subject to similar extortion type charges as well.

Where does this leave all the other Ironmen events and other shoreline activities?

I’m afraid Key & Co, along with their Racist and Separatist policies have to go, but how to legally remove them quickly and expediently eludes me. :groan:
