| 1327781 | 2013-02-13 03:08:00 | A woman dies after drinking 6-10 litres of Coca Cola a day plus smoking 60 cigarettes and the Coroner wants warnings on the bottle saying Coke is bad for your health. 6-10 litres of water would also be bad for your health. I guess all taps will soon have to be labled too. In Australia blowing out birthday candles on a cake is verbotten. Each child has to bring a cup cake with one candle on it and blow that out at the approbriate time. |

| 1327782 | 2013-02-13 04:09:00 | There seems to be no end to the stupid twits that have assumed power in both countries. :( However, it would seem that coke has no detrimental effects on a womans fertility. ;) David Crerar has found that mother-of-eight Natasha Harris died from drinking too much Coca-Cola. Ms Harris, of Invercargill, died, aged 30, in February 2010. Evidence at her inquest showed she drank up to 10 litres of "classic" Coke every day - equal to more than twice the recommended safe daily limit of caffeine, and almost one kilogram of sugar. In his report, David says Natasha smoked around 30 cigarettes a day and often skipped meals. No doubt about it, the lunatics have the keys to the asylum. Be warned girls, drinking Coca-Cola causes pregnancy! |

It does appear to affect the foetus though as I read that one or more of her kids had no enamel on their teeth when they were born! |

A foetus will not lose their tooth enamel because the Mother drank Coke. Some babies are genetically predisposed to this condition or experience other growth trauma's during the pregnancy (such as a very pre-term birth) that can cause it. I doubt adding a warning about drinking too much Coke is going to do much. If a person has an addiction to something, or other behavioral problems, then a warning isn't going to stop them. Product warnings should only apply where despite normal common sense, there is a risk of over-indulgence causing harm. For example, drinking too many energy drinks when they are consumed in the same quantity as someone would consume water. |

| 1327786 | 2013-02-13 06:49:00 | I actually have never heard of foetuses with teeth, let alone with enamel issues. o_0 That goes to show how much I know of human genetics ... | Sanco (683) | ||

Here's the link to the original news article I read: tvnz.co.nz Quote: "The fact she had her teeth extracted several years before her death because of what her family believed was Coke induced tooth decay, and the fact that one or more of her children were born without enamel on their teeth, should have been treated by her, and by her family, as a warning." |

| 1327790 | 2013-02-13 09:37:00 | Here's the link to the original news article I read: tvnz.co.nz Tooth enamel decay due to too much coke is caused physical exposure to the acid in the Coke. I can't see how a foetus can have its enamel (while still buried in the gum tissue) exposed to the acid from the Coke. The coroners statement doesn't make sense. I cannot find any supporting statements in Google (apart from news on the dead woman) either. Either the kids were genetically predisposed to this condition, or the Mother's poor health/nutrition during the pregnancy resulted in poor foetal development. Either way, she was not doing herself or children any favours with her lifestyle. |
