1327522 2013-02-11 18:12:00 Telecom says their roaming rates are coming down.

This is in response to John Key and Julie Gillard saying they must come down or they will regulate.

Do you think their roaming charges are fair and comparable to overseas ?

I have never roamed (I just hate Telecom)

1327523 2013-02-11 19:27:00 Yes I think they are fair compared to overseas. $6 a day in Ozzy for unlimited fair use data at the moment is all good by me. Alex B (15479)

Pretty strong language there Digby. I do not think Telecom are all that great but have always been happy with any outcome of problems. Vodaphone are a different kettle of fish. have had many disagreements with them which have soured me towards them.

We there's an unbiased opinion to start with. Why post such crap.. At least Telecom did something about it. We get far better roaming rates to Ozz that say Telstra AU customers get coming here..

1327528 2013-02-13 00:42:00 Are Telecom going thru another round of reductions? Last time they said Telecom postpaid customers can roam quite cheaply in Oz around $5 wasn't it and around $9 per day in a couple other countries like USA/CA etc ... Some of the other countries is around $10/MB I think (from memory).

Vodafone is more expensive, they don't have the specials aren't they around $10/MB and 2Degrees which is around $25/MB being the most $$ supplier.....

For me I just pick up a local simcard, bit more hassle but just simpler and without the possible gotchas.

1327529 2013-02-13 04:24:00 So why do we hear about people getting huge bills ? Digby (677)
1327530 2013-02-13 04:37:00 I guess a lot of people may be on 2D or Voda or as a prepay Tele customer, those Telecom postpaid specials were only announced a few months ago. Only a few countries offer those special rates, other countries defaults to $10/MB or more (2D is $25).

Maybe people don't really check the rates out and just assume even if it is more expensive it should not be crazy using commonsense. And when they employ that incorrect judgement, many may be popping email, running Skype account, online chat and watching youtube and GPS. They may judge $200 incorrectly to much bigger amounts. I guess if they are on holiday many wouldn't mind spending more on 3G but might not know how much it really is until they experienced it.
