194996 2003-11-26 23:00:00 Hello everybody : )
Recently I have bought a new rig (Barton 2500+, 512 DDR 120 gb SATA on NF7-s Rv2) but I'm lacking a good monitor.
I use my comp mainly for gaming and also a bit of wordprocessing, music, videos and the normal stuff... and I'm wondering whats a good monitor to get?
The AoC and the Mag ones seems cheap and quite popular, how do they compare with each other in terms of image quality, refresh rate? and I take price into consideration of course :O.
I'm looking at spending about $500 or below, what monitors do you guys recommend? (CRT / LCDs are both fine for me)

194997 2003-11-26 23:17:00 I have purchased a secondhand ViewSonic E790 and I am pretty fussy when it comes to monitors and it performs very well. It does 1280 X 1024 at 85Hz I think but I find that starting to get a bit small. Now wouldn't I like a 21" :D Dolby Digital (160)
194998 2003-11-26 23:18:00 Oh, the Viewsonic is a 19" but not a true flat screen... Dolby Digital (160)
194999 2003-11-27 00:17:00 Search the forums; there was a post similar to this a couple months back.

I use a Philips 109P and I have no complaints at all. This months PC Powerplay (Sorry pcw) have a brief review on 19" screens that may be worth a look at the news stand.

195000 2003-11-27 01:01:00 hiya,
I've got a AOC 19" Flat and i love it, i'm currently running it at 1280x1024 at 85hz. It's great on the eye's, because i do a lot of programming its even better. Games run very well, the only thing is that you need a good graphics card to push it at a decent res (1024x840 is about min in games on a 19").

Overall its a great monitor for what i use it for, if your really into image editing/ photo editing then i'd sugest going for a higher market one. But for games, internet and programming its great!

195003 2003-11-27 19:46:00 I would say get a good quality LCD screen. It'll save your eyes in the long run. somebody (208)
