195463 2003-11-28 07:04:00 Hi, I'm currently building a beasty computer, and I need some good headphones for it . I will be using the computer mainly for gaming, and I want a set that are comfortable to wear for long periods of time . Ones that make me feel like I am in the game are absolutely nessecary . (so I can scare the **** out of myself playing Doom III) Also, ones with a built in microphone are preferable, but I can live without that . I saw in >>FFWD a set of headphones by Philips, the HG100 headphones . Are these any good?

So, does anyone have any recommendations for high quality headphones?

Thanks .

195464 2003-11-28 08:02:00 in this months pc world there are a sexy looking pair of surround sound headphones, www.aos.co.nz, $150 hazza (2704)
195465 2003-11-28 08:43:00 I don't know whether these could be classed as "good", but I purchased two pairs of 'Elite' headphones from Warehouse Stationery months ago. They have a mic and built in volume control, and the 'phones do an adequate job of muting outside noise. The bass response is pretty good too.

I am happy with them, anyway.

They were $35 - 40 each from memory.

195466 2003-11-28 08:56:00 For long periods of use, it is best to get phones with pads that fully enclose your outer ear (as opposed to pressing against them) because the pressure causes discomfort after 2-3 hours. In-ear phones don't cause the same discomfort, but neither do they block out external sounds or have quite the same low frequency response.

I don't know if the full-pad type are available with a built-in mic but that is not hard to overcome as you can probably arrange a suitable mic without too much trouble.

Cheers

195469 2003-11-28 09:47:00 AOS appears to be the distributer - they sell to retailers. They may be able to advise who resells the product if you ring or email them.

However, good ole Google.

mmgear headphones NZ search ...

store.recoil.net.nz

$185.00 there though.

195470 2003-11-28 16:25:00 I use a mdrex71sl sony earphone. Some earphones has low frequency. The ones that im using are those and they have extremely deep bass and i believe that they have better bass than those of street style headphone.Hmm but of course this earphone cannot compete with surround sound and noise cancelling headphones.
This earphone is quite good. Its about 100 dollars though. So u might like to read reviews online.
I like this earphone. The favourite earphone in my entire life

195472 2003-11-28 19:20:00 I don't like earphones, they get uncomfortable after long periods of use, and it's REALLY annoying when someone grabs one out of your ear to hear what you're listening to and....... yeah. Thanks for the link to those surround sound headphones, Jester. I'll probably buy them. Wilky (776)
