195727 2003-11-29 09:04:00 Thought I would trial Unreal demo but it locks up after the start with the whole screen going brownish red. 1900+ AMD Athlon 125mb ddr ram Xp home. Shared ram was 16mb so I guessed it needed more so changed it to 32mb in bios but with the same results. Any ideas BobM (1138)
195728 2003-11-29 11:20:00 Have you installed latest drivers for your Graphics Card (Be it onboard or not), and have you installed DirectX 9, as that may help. Did you update the game with any game patches that may be available online? Chilling_Silently (228)
195729 2003-11-29 13:25:00 Which unreal demo are you refering to?

anyhow look at the system specs of the software, somehow i doubt any intergrated video gear well run it,...well maybe a board with a g4mx intergrated chip but that would be about your minimum.

195730 2003-11-29 21:19:00 also with 128meg ram minus the 32 for the video means your running on sweet stuff all. get a ram upgrade. you really want 256meg ram. tweak'e (174)
195731 2003-11-30 02:52:00 The demo was on PC Worlds disc.Your right about the ram being too small. I will get a graphics card for my AGP slot. Had a look at some of the postings on cards but am a bit limited on choice when looking for one under $200. Although my user guide tells me my KMM MS-6734 (v1.X)M-ATX board supports 8X when I look in bios it only supports 4X. I am looking at a Gigabyte GV-9000 Pro 64mb ddr ram for $190.00 , or FX 5200 with 128mb ddr ram for $197.00 or FX400 64mb ram $130.00 What about Open GL should I have this or is that part of XP.? 195732 2003-11-30 04:35:00 If you can,Grab a gforce4ti4200,They outperform all the boards you listed by a wide margin and are avaiable for under $200 in some places.

And an 8xagp card will run fine in a 4xagp slot,The entire rating is a bit of a scam, only the latest top of the line cards make any use of the extra bandwidth supplied by the 8xagp standard.

Actually,i should say the branding of lower range cards as 8xagp is a bit of a scam.

I could be mistaken but I presumed it came with graphics cards. You can probably download it - have a look at this site (http://www.opengl.org/).

unless you are useing stock XP drivers, openGL is built into the proper drivers from the manafacture.
