195906 2003-11-30 10:52:00 Hi

My PC is hanging on boot up at "Verifying DMi Pool Data" and then displaying several lines of "99 99 99 .." before doing absolutely nothing.
It's a dual boot (Windows 2000 Pro/Knoppix) PC with 1 hard drive/CD-Rom/Floppy drives.
Just prior to this happening I was mucking around with trying to add icons to my quick launch bar so don't know if that's whats caused it??

195908 2003-11-30 18:48:00 check your bios and change if necessary the drive geometry to 'auto'........ drcspy (146)
195909 2003-12-01 04:18:00 I had this problem with a WinME installation. In fact if I recall correctly, my WinME machine was also dual booting Linux at the same time. There can be many different reasons for this as google will show. I had a good website with all the trouble-shooting steps in it but I can't find it again - sorry :(.

I tried all sorts of things, but what fixed mine was to replace the master boot record using fdisk /mbr. However as you are dual booting you will lose the Knoppix/2000 boot loader. See what other options you have first.

Good luck.
