196921 2003-12-08 08:13:00 Im keen for the idea...
And have the posts that are "edited" then alerting the other Admins to lock if need be...

But that could be a fair bit of work for Mary and the rest of the WebDev team!

196923 2003-12-08 08:29:00 This idea will probably be shunned, but how about letting PressF1 users view the source code so someone can put in the features, and the administrators can then check out the changes, etc.

I'm not aware of the licence for Jive Forums, so it might be against the licence to do so. Although I've never understood how software companies could police the distribution of forum software, considering everyone who gets the software can see the source.

No more than now and at least things would be dealt with in a timely manner (careful with foot, move away from mouth and place firmly back on floor, phew!), not saying that Bruce and Robo are laggards but they do have other things to do. warnings and editing of the posts should hold things at bay until the Admins can take appropriate action if deemed necessary.

I reakon it's time for PF1'ers to take a little more responsibility for the upkeep of the forum and some ownership in that would not hurt IMO.

BTW Chill. I do include you amongst the long term, esteemed users but figure youth requires its freedom ;).

Cheers Murray P

PS. Where is Robo? Hatching some scheme to get his hands on the Xmas draw goodies, no doubt.

They're busy people with a lot on their plate... I can understand that :-)

196927 2003-12-08 08:47:00 Might've seen him changing his name, to get around the clause about IDG staff and their families :p agent (30)

:O I know who he is, I'm on to him. It's that newish bloke who's been stirring everone up and getting posts edited, etc. He's trying to get anyone with more than 500 posts banned to increase his own chances. Wow! talk about devious. It's True, honest, really :p

196929 2003-12-08 20:23:00 Another point is whether it is necessary for extra forum-patrols at all.

As long as the rest of us alert Bruce or robo whenever there is an inappropriate post, then there shouldn't be any problems. Problems seem quite rare here, as **most** users a responsible members.

196930 2003-12-08 22:37:00 the problem is that bruce and robo are very busy people and dont work much on weekends.

if the users of F1 took a bit more responsibity on themselves that would make the work load for bruce and robo a bit less.

I would assume that bruce spend at least an hour a day checking up on us and it would be nice if we could be given a way to do some of that work for him.
