2003-12-07 23:26:00 | A good post and good discussion ruined by totally childish behaviour from one person. Please in furture email me folks if this stuff happens. I'm trying to get an "alert admin" link stuck on thread pages but it'll take some negotiating with the web folks. | Biggles (121) | |
2003-12-07 23:43:00 | IMO, that'd be a brave move Bruce. "Use Only In Case Of Emergency" hmm, wonder what that does, if I push it just a little teensey weeney bit....... They'll be like rat's up a drain pipe ;) BTW, you don't need to spend all that money on Betty Ford. A sock and some good old vaseline on the chin will fix you up right as rain. Cheers Murray P

2003-12-07 23:52:00 | Its fairly standard for forums to have such a feature. This is supposed to be a self-moderating outfit and mostly it is - it's just a few occiasional twits that require a slap now and then, but there's no way I can see it all without checking evey thread every half hour. So some obvious way for folks to hit an alarm button would be a good idea. Still relies on me being around to check my mail of course, and frankly, I'm not paid for weekend and out of hours work .... | Biggles (121) | |
2003-12-08 01:14:00 | Would user Mod's be an option, eg, users with Mod status and Admin remains in the hands of the Administraors . There are some obvious candidates that would do an excellent job of it (which definitely does not include someone I know imtimately) . The ones I'm thinking of generally have their noggin's screwed on the right way and are committed to PF1 and have been for some time . Although I know you and the other admin's are committed to PF1, as you say you're not paid to admin out of hours and you do have a day job somewhere too, don't you! Just a thought anyway . | 196907 | 2003-12-08 01:20:00 | It does seem like a very good idea, however it would probably be impractical for Bruce to keep an eye on user mods, as well as the rest of the forum, plus do the rest of his day-job. Incidents like this happen so rarely that as long as the rest of us alert Bruce to the situation, then everything should go smoothly.

2003-12-08 01:23:00 | just what I was thinking. there are three names that spring to mind. people with over 2K posts, on here almost every day, well respected members of F1............ if we could give them the access to edit threads and lock threads, that should be all thats needed.

2003-12-08 01:33:00 | a system of voting in three "sub-admins" every year....... if they abuse the power then they can lose the power..... I would expect that users would not want "sub-admins" to see personal info in the profiles but I am sure that can be done.
