| 197299 | 2003-12-04 11:13:00 | Howdy peoples, One of my irregular sites that I visit now comes up with a message saying something like: Your current security settings prevent ActiveX Control and this page may not display properly. Question: How do I temporarily disable that control for viewing the page? Cheers. |

Is the site not working to your satisfaction. The setting in IE should be to prompt before downloading signed ActiveX and disable unsigned. If you absolutely trust the site you should still be reluctant to change this. What the site is requesting is that you download an ActiveX control and if you are not warned by a prompt, as you got, in this instance any old bit of malaware can end up on your system doing unmentionable things with your data and sanity. In short its a dangerous game to disable those settings. If you insist make sure your antivirus, anti-spyware and hijack apps are upto date and enabled. HTH Murray P |
