197195 2003-12-04 04:43:00 the outlook is bleak. whenever outlook starts is says "the microsoft exchange server isn't ready..." i dont want the exchange server. (outlook express works fine) pus when i run desktop sidebar it keeps popping up as well. how do i make it go away? Megaman (344)
197196 2003-12-04 05:04:00 Why is it set up for an Exchange Server?

It should be set up for POP3 most likely.

And if you use Outlook Express, why is Outlook even running?

Perhaps I don't understand the question....?

Hint: Outlook Help may guide you re setting it up, if thats what you are trying to do.

Go to Tools | email accounts | view existing or change email accounts. Highlight the errant account (if there is one there of course) and click Remove.

I may have misread your original post Megaman after reading GF's posts. Which is your default email client? Outlook or Outlook Express? A friend had similar problem as yours after she purchased ex work computer and my advice above solved her problem.

It sounds like you have quite a few problems with your computer. Want to be my guinea pig and give the Computer Maintenance FAQ (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) a whirl? ;-)

Incidentally, if you are not using Office you should not really have any need to use Outlook. Just stick with Outlook Express or try Eudora (it is free). :-)
