197186 2003-12-04 02:44:00 when i uninstall a progam i find on checking the drive i allocated it to i can still see it listed on the drive..Therefore it means it is still there. How do i uninstall all remaining applications... thanks.. bethaneise (4812)
197187 2003-12-04 03:13:00 Quite common. Check under your add/remove list, and if it isn't listed...delete the directory.
Just remember that sometimes programs require a restart of the computer, even though they may not ask for it.

197188 2003-12-04 04:30:00 I dont know what u mean ..when i uninstal it is no longer listed in the directory..but on looking in the drive it has programs still there that are referring to the program with for eg a read me doc and a symbol for the program ..that is my problem it is still on the drive..thanks any way,.. bethaneise (4812)
197189 2003-12-04 04:41:00 Using the correct method of uninstalling a program will not always remove every trace. The readme.doc as an example is not a program system file, its a text file with information. Its not uncommon for these to remain.
Likewise, any data file that a program creates is unlikely to be removed.

When these non-removed files exist, the directories that they reside in remain as well.

What was meant is, that if you have removed (uninstalled) the program in the correct manner, its usually safe then to manually delete any remaining files and directories that persist.

Usually (but not always) the removal process advises that some parts will require manual deletion.
