197829 2003-12-06 04:56:00 Running Win98
On startup I'm suddenly getting the following message - Red circle with a White Cross --- Windows Networking - Unable to load the dynamic link library: msnp32.dll - The System cannot find the specified file. Some or all of the following feature is not available: Microsoft Network
I have downloaded and put the file msnp32.dll into Windows\System, rebooted, but still the same message. I only have 1 home computer.
hope someone can help?

197830 2003-12-06 05:16:00 Start > Run > Settings > Control Panel > Network

If you have only one computer (and it is using a dialup modem) you should have:
Client for Microsoft Networks
Dialup Adaptor (I think..?)
TCP/IP or TCP/IP for Dialup Networking

Remove anything else (NetBeui, Network Card, etc) then save and reboot. This will give you dialup access to the internet and remove support for networks. Should you use a router to connect to the internet and you need your network card then after rebooting Windows should pickup the Network Card, want drivers for it and install them along with TCP/IP support for the card.

197832 2003-12-06 10:17:00 Just tried something - I deleted Client for microsoft Networks and the error message has gone.----- coooooooool

197833 2003-12-06 10:31:00 If client for Microsoft networks is not installed you will be unable to save your password in the Dialup connection, if that is not a problem you can do without it.

If you reinstall it you will likely find that it will this will cure the error anyway.
In the Network dialog box, click Add.
7.In the Select Network Component Type dialog box, click Client, and then click Add.
8.In the Select Network Client dialog box, click Microsoft under Manufacturers.
9.Under Network Clients, select Client for Microsoft Networks, and then click OK.
10.In the Network dialog box, click OK.
11.Click Yes to restart your computer.
