| 197695 | 2003-12-05 20:54:00 | Nikon has adv that the D70 is coming out in the new yr, no info at the mo, seems v similar to the Canon 300D. I gather 6.3MP 1/2,000 sec shutter, ISO 200 - 1600. The price set now is like $1,000US for body alone, Canon's is $899US. Well this is more/less minimal diff and given the D100 is coming down it may be better going with that instead if some of the features are crippled as like the 300D. But hey, despite the bios upgrades of the D100 its still 1.5 yr older than the D70. Heard the 300D is pretty impressive. Pro models are simply too expensive. |

| 197697 | 2003-12-06 04:29:00 | There is a bit of pressure going on Canon in some forums, to put out a new firmware release for the 300D that un-cripples some of the features. The internals a the same as big brothers so its just a matter of enabling the software. Be great if they do but I can't see Canon giving away free features but, I for one would be happy to pay a few $$'s for it. Cheers Murray P |

| 197699 | 2003-12-06 09:46:00 | no problem baldy ;) i think not many NZders go via US price tags, i am picking myself up on these D70/100 toys in April when I see a new country - Japan! The fully manual film camera is tempting too meaning the ones with manual lenses and can operate without batteries :) |
