198172 2003-12-07 19:46:00 In the past 2 days, i've noticed that where there used to be banner ads on the PF1 pages, it's now replaced with:

'); //-->

I don't know if this is just my computer doing it, or if anyone else is having this "problem" (personally I don't mind seeing no ads).

198173 2003-12-07 19:50:00 Nope, ads still here.
Last time I lost those on a page, I'd either changed my security settlings (Java, maybe?) or done something with html - but I can't remember what.
Are you getting the rest of the page OK?

198174 2003-12-07 19:51:00 How strange... has anyone else noticed this?

somebody:
Have you recently upgraded your browser?
Does refreshing the page help?

198175 2003-12-07 19:59:00 I installed Norton Internet Security yesterday when I started noticing the "problem". The reason I was concerned was because from where I am sitting, it vaguely looks like it says "Jill", so I was wondering if foul-play was involved.

I'll disable NIS and see if the ads come back.

198176 2003-12-07 20:00:00 Ok - I wasn't very smart. It was Norton Internet Security - maybe I should check next time before opening my mouth. somebody (208)
198177 2003-12-07 20:15:00 No problem. It's actually the end of the Javascript tag for our banner ads, so not foul play.
Better to be safe than sorry though :)

198179 2003-12-07 20:24:00 Me too. For about the last two months. Again, Norton is involved.

Cheers

198180 2003-12-07 20:32:00 Oh well - no banner ads - no complaints from me :D somebody (208)
198181 2003-12-08 01:53:00 I thought you were complaining. ;-) That would have made the marketing people happy. I don't notice whether the ads are there or not. ;\

Reminds me of an old ScFi book (by E.E "Doc" Smith) ... the Earthman hero was a car passenger on a planet where the natives use "perception" rather than sight, and the cars are heavy armoured vehicles with no windows. He gets concerned about not being abe to see what's happening, so asks for the driver to use telepathy and let him "see". After a while, he wonders what the big white walls are along the road side. "Ah, those are advertisements", says the native."Don't you automatically blank them out on your planet?".
