198160 2003-12-07 11:27:00 I am running Windows 98SE. For two days the MS update site has been quickly running up to 100% when clicking on 'scan for updates', then giving me a error that the page cannot be displayed. Are any others with 98SE getting this message to just lately. I had no problems a week ago. Slim (4633)
198161 2003-12-07 11:45:00 seems to going ok here
just on the off chance, update and run a full virus scan, spy bot or adaware maybe a good idea also. Oh e2(search on google for it) is good also (trojin catcher) some one suggested it in a earlier post (thought I was clean untill I ran this and I use stinger too)

198162 2003-12-07 12:17:00 I have Windows 98SE also.

There are no Critical Updates listed at present & my History shows the latest I downloaded was a Cumulative package for IE6 on 13 November.

You'll find a2 at www.a-2.org

It's Rokop Security - a German site, but there's an English language choice.

I downloaded it myself this weekend & found the checks very interesting - as did several others, according to the feedback on PF1.

198167 2003-12-07 21:54:00 I had a similar problem, turned out that I had to make English(US) the default language in IE before it would work. However you could also try

Deleting all offline files
Deleting cookies
Clearing history
Clearing ssl state
Clearing passwords and forms (Autocomplete)
Adding the update site to your trusted sites
Installing linux. ;-)
