198117 2003-12-07 22:37:00 Cheers for everyones replies...I have now downloaded but not installed firebird as yet as I thought I better get some more info to help out;

1)Does it matter that I`m on dialup..
2)Do I need to uninstall IE6 or not..
3)Do I get rid of my Google t/bars ect...
4)What problems am I likely to encounter...
5)What happens to Outlook Express??
I have read the intro suggested by bmason and others,but have no printer so am unable to use pages for reference.I`ll leave everything as is for now until I get some feedback from F1 members.
Thanks for your comments and time on this.

Not at all, in fact you should find browsing faster than using Internet Explorer .

> 2)Do I need to uninstall IE6 or not . .
No, it is advisable to leave IE6 .

> 3)Do I get rid of my Google t/bars ect . . .
I am not sure if Google t/bars are able to be used with Firebird but you can do searches on Google by typing in your query in the Search field alongside the addressbar then choose Google as the search engine .

> 4)What problems am I likely to encounter . . .
None at all .

> 5)What happens to Outlook Express??
If it is currently your default email client it will remain that way . Otherwise same as IE - leave .

Good luck and enjoy Firebird . :-)
