| 198064 | 2003-12-07 06:29:00 | Is this a desktop or a laptop? Does it do a full shutdown OK? If a desktop, just be aware that many hardware (and software) combinations simply do not support standby, its a function mainly for laptops, which are designed accordingly. Thats not to say it can't or shouldn't be used on desktops - if it works OK. Some major PC suppliers technical support people do not recommend using the function on desktop PC's at all. YMMV |

| 198065 | 2003-12-08 11:05:00 | desktop. it used to work. i don't know when it stopped so don't know what piece of software screwed it. however your comments sort of help me come to terms with living without it. i was hoping i was the last person to know of a recent cause for it failing. thanks anyway. luckily it does shut down very well....and start. bootvis helps in that dept. can't use it in case of standby though as it has to actually go through the process to create trace files and it just hangs when it starts that process. |
