198018 2003-12-07 01:22:00 Hi, yes, well with our ongoing problems with this one computer we finally got all the Win98se computers to network with it, and share files and what not. But now we want to get the WinXP to be on the same "network" as it, so we need NetBEUI, how do we install it MrBeef (342)

198020 2003-12-07 01:32:00 And what if we lack in the windows xp cd?

how can we do it then
MrBeef (342)
198021 2003-12-07 02:35:00 why not use ipx/spx ?? its a little faster, handles big networks a lot better, there is still programs that can use it and saves mucking around installing netbeui. only catch is to watch out for the frame type setting.

look here (www.wown.info)

198022 2003-12-07 02:47:00 Does Netbeui allowing pinging and gaming, because none of the computers we have here can. MrBeef (342)
198023 2003-12-07 02:49:00 El tougho :)

No, I wont ask why you dont have a CD, but the files for NetBeui can be downloaded here:

Just scroll down the page.

Or do as tweake says.

198024 2003-12-07 02:51:00 NetBeui is only for file transfer. You need TCP/IP protocoll installed to ping another computer on the network or to get onto internet Terry Porritt (14)
198025 2003-12-07 02:52:00 "pinging" usuall refers to tcp/ip. also most lan gaming is done over tcp/ip. netbeui and ipx/spx is often just used for windows networking which you proberly allready have got running useing tcp/ip. tweak'e (174)
198026 2003-12-07 03:03:00 when we uninstall netbeui, so we can only use TCP/IP our problem reoccurs, CFMN does not come up. MrBeef (342)

MrBeef appears to have a tcp/ip prob with one win98se box. I suggested using netbuei to confirm network file/print sharing functionallity which he has apperently done. He's tried uninstalling/installing cards/protocols/ win98(over the top) etc. MB what bindings are set on tcp/ip on the troublesum box?

At this point personnally if you want win98 on that box is a total reformat/reinstall(not something I normally recommend, but this is win9x ;)
