198086 2003-12-08 01:04:00 Check the list on price spy but from what i see these are the specs you should be looking for

Athlon XP 2600+ Barton core
nForce2 motherboard (Asus recommended)
1gb of 333mhz DDR RAM
Seagate Barracuda 120gb 7200 HDD (8mb cache)
Creative Soundblaster Audigy
Asus CDRW 52x
Asus DVD 16x

Send that to a few companies and it should come to a couple of thousand

You might also think about using SATA drives and / or RAID arrays.

I like Seagate drives. I've never had trouble there

A motherboard that supports all of the above is from Soltek Model 75FRN2-RL. This one supports AGP8X and DDR400 RAM.
I use this motherboard myself and am more than happy with it.

I haven't had problems with Asus or Gigabyte motherboards either.

You might also want to think about getting a DVD/CD Writer combination.

Backups are only going to get bigger. :-)
