198312 2003-12-08 03:19:00 I've had a quick look around, but haven't had any luck so far. Does anyone know where (or if) I can find a converter for AMD socket a to slot a cpu's? I know they made them for the Slot 1 celerons. I want to squeeze some more life out of my computer, and it's pretty hard to find a slot a processor, so I thought maybe someone knew of a converter that would let me use a socket a cpu instead...

198313 2003-12-08 03:29:00 Sorry you're out of luck. AMD did make some for a specific processor (revision) when they went back to sockets but they were never released. It was puit in the too hard basket by the sound of it.

198314 2003-12-08 03:36:00 Thanks Murray. I was just about to post a "don't reply" message, because I found out myself (thanks Google - doh!) If anyone else was interested, the article (www.plasma-online.de) said that some earlier K7 amd processors were repackaged socket a's, and implied that they could be opened and upgraded. Don't know if I'm willing to try that, however...

Just checked mine and it's a proper K7... So - anyone have a K7 Slot A processor (650 mhz to 850mhz) they want to sell?
