| 198245 | 2003-12-08 00:04:00 | When I ran external modems, I never shut them down. Its good practice to do so, but not harmful if you forget. You need to remember to power them up before you boot though, as they may not be detected. I solved the problem by modifying a power strip to be activated only when the PC was turned on (USB controlling a triac) and this powered down the monitor, printers and modems when the PC shut down, and automatically restored the power when the PC was powered up. |
