2003-12-09 08:37:00 | Just a quick note to say thanks to those that helped me out with F/B setting up.It`s doing just fine and it really is as fast as you all claimed,it does lag now and then between PF1 pages(ironic I thought) but no problems elsewhere. Now to find out how to change themes. Thanks again DD

2003-12-09 08:44:00 | I am glad it is all working well for you now :) Installing/changing themes is easy to do. Open up FB and go to Tools > Options > Themes. Click the "get new themes" link at the bottom. It will take you to the site where you can choose and download themes. Pick what one you like (I am quite fond of the "Bluemonkey" one :p) and click on install theme. It will download and install the theme for you. If it doesn't change to the theme immediately, shut down FB and then reopen it. If it still doesn't display the new theme just go back to Options > Themes and select the newly installed theme and click OK. You might need to close and open FB again. Have fun :D

2003-12-09 09:10:00 | I did what you said Jen,but although I clicked basically everything associated with themes on the page,I still ended up at the bottom of the page,I`ll keep trying, not to sure why this happens as it looks pretty straight forward even to me. Cheers

2003-12-09 09:17:00 | You did get this (texturizer.net) page coming up? When you click on the small pictures of the different themes available, it will jump down the page to the details on that particular theme. You can also just scroll down the page yourself and look at them. On the blurb about each theme you will see details about the author, version and other details. If you click on the Install link it will automatically start the process for you. Just follow the prompts that will pop up. When choosing your theme, take note if it says that it is not compatible with Firebird 0.7 or 0.7+. Those particular themes are known for not working with Firebird 0.7 (which you should have - check by going in FB Help > About Mozilla Firebird). Lets us know how you get on :)

2003-12-10 06:17:00 | Been pondering this one again and I have tried a few experiments with my Firebird and I cannot replicate the blank page at texturizer.net It does look like something is still not quite right with FB. If you don't mind, I think it would be good to give this one more shot right from scratch as Firebird is a lovely browser and I am sure we will get it sorted in the end. I know from your previous posts on the other thread that you have already uninstalled and re-installed once before, but lets do it step-by-step again. Do you still have the original downloaded MozillaFirebird-0.7-win3 2. zip? Make sure your file has the same name. Next you will have to again remove all traces of the previous FB. 1. Make sure the browser is closed. 2. Open up Explorer (right-click Start button and select Explore). Go to Tools > Folder Options > View Tab. Scroll down and under "Hidden files and folders" select Show hidden files and folders. Click Apply and OK. 3. Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\your_username\Application Data. Delete the Phoenix and Mozilla folders. 4. Go to C:\Program Files and find the MozillaFirebird folder. On the right side Explorer pane, right-click on it and rename it to OLD_MozillaFirebird. 5. Then on a blank space right-click again and select New > Folder. Name it MozillaFirebird. 6. Go and delete any shortcuts you have made for FB on the desktop etc. Now back to the the zipped MozillaFirebird file. 1. Right-click on it and select Extract All .. and then Next. 2. Use the Browse button to navigate to the new MozillaFirebird folder under My Programs and click the folder to highlight it. Click OK and then Next. 3. Once finished navigate via Explorer to C:\Program Files\MozillaFirebird\MozillaFirebird. Find the MozillaFirebird.exe and create a new shortcut by right-clicking > Send To > Desktop (create shortcut). Now the big test :D Fire up Firebird and zip off to the Theme site and see whether things look any different. Fingers and toes crossed. :)

2003-12-10 06:58:00 | Hi once again Jen,have got to admit you`re definitly a stayer..OK here`s where I`m at ....spent the day scratching round, even join F/B forum ,about an hour ago actually,so no light as yet.Right now I`m going to try what you have suggested ,with fingers crossed, and see what happens. I did manage to get one theme called Gnome 2.0 from some site, can`t even remember where,.At the end of the day I`m very happy with F/B and it will stay with me, I just felt like putting a personal touch to it if you get my drift. One good thing to come out of all this ,is I`m learning how to type faster. If I`m not back tonight,I`ll catch you tomorrow ,and let you know how I got on. Cheers DD

2003-12-11 08:19:00 | > Just a quick note for Jen C if you`re about.... I'm always about :D That is a shame, it really should work for you. Nevermind, at least the browser still functions well without the extra eye-candy :)

2003-12-11 09:12:00 | As a matter of interest, can you get the Firebird skins page to load with previews with Internet Explorer? You will not be able to download them but I am just wondering if it will show correctly or not. | Susan B (19) | |
