198969 2003-12-10 18:59:00 ME sucks in the release of resources, 98SE is better but XP is the best manager of resources , more ram wont help its the number of windows and applications you have opened that count so dont open more than one window at a time or change software Opera and Firebird are good lean fast browsers .
cacheman is good software to show your exact usage and can release ram buit not resources once they are tied up usually by buggy software then you will have to reboot

198970 2003-12-11 00:19:00 Win XP Pro here with 512 sdram, and although I've never received an error relating to resources, I suspect there are some limitations - ie, when I shut down some of my hungry apps, eg Dreamweaver and Photoshop, I get a steady, cyclic grinding (soto voce) activity of the hard-drive for maybe a minute before it quietens down and appears to let me get full into another app, eg a game. Follow the link mentioned earlier if you want to understand the differences.
