199148 2003-12-10 06:05:00 Hi Guys,

I am interested in the music that plays when Windows Xp completes setting up. The music plays during the registration process. I reckon that it's Tony Banks, ex Genesis keyboard player. My question is where on the disk is the music file, what format is it in and most important of all, how can I listen to it again! I really like this tune. Any ideas?

Such a simple request, its so easy to find (not!):

C:\Windows\System32\oobe\images\title.wma

2,564 kB in size.

Merry Xmas

199152 2003-12-10 06:46:00 I don't remember hearing that music when I was installing XP. Must of been away with the fairies or something :p

Just listened to it now and it is very soothing (which is probably the whole point of it). I noticed that the artist was only listed as "Microsoft" and despite a rather good google effort I cannot find any details on the artist. It must be out there somewhere :D

199153 2003-12-11 00:27:00 Thanks for that! I did have a good look around for it but I wouldn't have thought of looking there........... Thanks again, merry Xmas... Jim.D (4983)
199154 2003-12-11 00:29:00 Yeah, I kept forgetting too....... I've saved it now so I can listen whenever I want, glad you like it too. Merry Xmas...J Jim.D (4983)
199155 2003-12-11 00:31:00 Maybe it only plays on Hewlett Packard Pavilions, glad that you liked the music too. I'm pretty sure it's Tony Banks of Genesis. Merry Xmas. J. Jim.D (4983)
199156 2003-12-11 01:08:00 That is nice music - I haven't heard it before either.

I don't use Windows Media Player and would like to convert it from .wma to another format such as .mp3 or .wav. Any ideas on what to use? Google brings up quite a few choices but it would be good to have some recommendations. :-)
