198846 2003-12-09 18:10:00 i have just downloaded netscape and was wondering, could i run both browsers in the same os (xp home) on diff partitions? Megaman (344)
198847 2003-12-09 18:13:00 you should be able to run them on the same partition.

did u know that mozilla is a open source - cut down version of netscape?

198848 2003-12-09 21:09:00 Sure can. Not only that but you can quite easily run Internet Explorer, Netscape, Opera, Firebird and Mozilla all at the same time whilst browsing the same or different websites. On the same partition too. :-)

Maybe you are thinking they are like anti-virus programs or firewalls? They should not be run at the same time.

198849 2003-12-09 22:11:00 Just keep in mind that slightly older versions of Windows can cause conflicts when they're both running, eg in Win98. Never had a problem with multiple browsers, which I often do, under XP Greg S (201)

198851 2003-12-10 03:38:00 Thats what MS would have one beleive. Having it as "part of the OS" is one way to force upgrading the OS. mark.p (383)

198853 2003-12-10 08:20:00 Hi

Yes, i think u can!!! however, those hidden system files will be installed back to the Windows Directory anyway.... so when u re-format ur main hard drive, the netscape that u save on the 2nd HDD wouldn't work anyway... so i wouldn't bothered and just install at C drive anyway!!!

hope that helps

198855 2003-12-11 20:15:00 I use Opera, Firebird , IE as well as K-Meleon on same O/S 98SE without any problems and a few others but mnot netscape too buggy and bloated for my taste. kiwibeat (304)
