| 1351607 | 2013-08-20 21:56:00 | An older one...Need Video and Audio (modem too though that's not important). Problem is there is no model # written anywhere on the notebook. There is a serial # and a part #, but neither of these work in the Packard Bell support site (www.packardbell.co.uk). Speccy doesn't see anything, Belarc gives me some motherboard info etc, but I haven't been able to get anywhere with that either. Anyone reinstalled one of these recently? Thanks. :) 515351515152 |

| 1351610 | 2013-08-20 22:21:00 | Assuming its a fresh install ------- this site tells you what the drivers are : drp.su But don't try to download them, they don't work, and Nod32 throws up a warning if you try. If its still got the original install, check theres no hidden folder with drivers, or Click the "Start" menu button. Choose "All Programs" followed by "Accessories," "System Tools" and "System Information." |

| 1351611 | 2013-08-20 22:35:00 | Didn't even think to check the BIOS. Just had a look and unfortunately all that's there is the PN and SN, worth a try though. Thanks Wainui - this is a clean install after a faulty HDD, so unfortunately nothing useful in that area. I did come across that site, it looked questionable. I didn't get to the point of comparing the hardware IDs though, that could definitely help, thanks. There are so many 'crap' driver type sites out there it's hard to sift through the dodgy ones to find the real thing. Hardware IDs are as follows... | 1351613 | 2013-08-20 23:05:00 | What version of windows is installed? XP? You can look on the MS update catalog site, but you have to use IE to search for drivers. The video maybe sis 740 (catalog.update.microsoft.com). The audio SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio (catalog.update.microsoft.com dio) The modem Motorola SM56 (catalog.update.microsoft.com). Or maybe a Smart Link 56K voice modem (catalog.update.microsoft.com) Click on add for the drivers you want to download. Theyre cab files. Extract them, then go to device manager, add them (using the inf file for the device / driver tab). Thats if the cab file has an inf file in it |
