1351607 2013-08-20 21:56:00 An older one...Need Video and Audio (modem too though that's not important).

Problem is there is no model # written anywhere on the notebook. There is a serial # and a part #, but neither of these work in the Packard Bell support site (www.packardbell.co.uk).

Speccy doesn't see anything, Belarc gives me some motherboard info etc, but I haven't been able to get anywhere with that either.

Anyone reinstalled one of these recently?

Thanks. :)

1351608 2013-08-20 22:18:00 Go into BIOS, you may find some info there. bk T (215)
1351609 2013-08-20 22:18:00 Yup see if the model appears in the BIOS. Or go to the device in DM. Go to the details tab / change it to hardware ids. Post whats there in here. We'll see what kind of driver it needs Speedy Gonzales (78)
1351610 2013-08-20 22:21:00 Assuming its a fresh install ------- this site tells you what the drivers are : drp.su But don't try to download them, they don't work, and Nod32 throws up a warning if you try.

If its still got the original install, check theres no hidden folder with drivers, or
Click the "Start" menu button. Choose "All Programs" followed by "Accessories," "System Tools" and "System Information."

1351611 2013-08-20 22:35:00 Didn't even think to check the BIOS. Just had a look and unfortunately all that's there is the PN and SN, worth a try though.

Thanks Wainui - this is a clean install after a faulty HDD, so unfortunately nothing useful in that area.

I did come across that site, it looked questionable. I didn't get to the point of comparing the hardware IDs though, that could definitely help, thanks.

There are so many 'crap' driver type sites out there it's hard to sift through the dodgy ones to find the real thing.

Hardware IDs are as follows...
Video (Pretty sure it's SIS)

PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_6325&SUBSYS_821A1033&REV_00
PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_6325&SUBSYS_821A1033
PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_6325&CC_030000
PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_6325&CC_0300

Audio

PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7012&SUBSYS_820F1033&REV_A0
PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7012&SUBSYS_820F1033
PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7012&CC_040100
PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7012&CC_0401

Modem

PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7013&SUBSYS_82161033&REV_A0
PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7013&SUBSYS_82161033
PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7013&CC_070300
PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7013&CC_0703

1351612 2013-08-20 22:43:00 Think i've managed to find a graphics driver from DriverGuide after getting the model off the site you linked to Wainui, thanks! Downloading now... will have a look for the sound. wratterus (105)
1351613 2013-08-20 23:05:00 What version of windows is installed? XP?

You can look on the MS update catalog site, but you have to use IE to search for drivers. The video maybe sis 740 (catalog.update.microsoft.com). The audio SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio (catalog.update.microsoft.com dio)

The modem Motorola SM56 (catalog.update.microsoft.com). Or maybe a Smart Link 56K voice modem (catalog.update.microsoft.com)

Click on add for the drivers you want to download. Theyre cab files. Extract them, then go to device manager, add them (using the inf file for the device / driver tab). Thats if the cab file has an inf file in it

1351614 2013-08-20 23:16:00 Thanks Speedy - the Motorola modem driver was the right one, but not the audio. I'm having a bit of trouble finding that one.

Yeah it's XP.

1351615 2013-08-20 23:46:00 So the soundmax drivers are the wrong audio drivers? Try Realtek AC97 (www.realtek.com.tw) the 6th download Speedy Gonzales (78)
1351616 2013-08-21 00:09:00 That one's caused the notebook to blue screen. :p wratterus (105)
