If it is the only place the data is, then it is NOT a backup. Do you not still have the original files on your PC(s)?	fred_fish (15241)
1351899	2013-08-25 01:27:00	sadly no, i cleaned it out with the idea of putting the ex hard drive copies back onto pc's when i had time, after peach got a revamp, and when i had my new pc, just never got there, because they cant see it........... i managed to get peach to save some more pics to the ex hard drive about a month ago, but life has been far to busy and i didnt get there....... i do know the info is still on the ex HD last time i used it...... comes down to time and $$$ which i had little of either recently.... Phoenix was a new pc so no nothing original on her, and i took masses of stuff off peach becuase it was sick and then she did a blue screen and never booted again, so Wainui did some tlc with her, but i had taken it all off her as a precaution of not being able to save it again....... so i kinda killed that chance.... i always intended to put them back...... :(	beetle (243)

1351901	2013-08-26 01:11:00	Thank you, I know i did it wrong, with the intention of having more than one copy, peach dying and not being sure if she was fixable or not changed the plans for more copies, but i just never got round to it, and now it may be too late. 1351902	2013-10-16 05:25:00	:D Update on exHD So happy, after getting Wainui to have a look at this stupid black box............ we found it had major issues.. - not quite dead...... ..lol but the good news is Wainui could see the data on it........... he retreived it and it seems to be all good :D He works miracles................ with a new ex Hard drive i have my data back........:) Big thanks to Wainui you the best.............:D	beetle (243)

1351904	2013-10-16 06:04:00	yeah i was sure kicking myself when my original plan was to get new comp and clean out peach and put ex HD data back on them......... and then find it wasnt readable....... not quite dead but near as too it....... i can hardly stop grinning now........ so happy. 1351905	2013-10-16 06:23:00	:thumbs: No problems Beetle-- Yours had a part HDD Failure and case failure . Could have been a lot worse . "Miracles" take a lot longer :D -- like one i have here now . The HDD is in far worse state than yours, It is so bad that Windows wont see it, no data recovery program will see it, and the drive only appears in the BIOS when it feels like it . When it does show - Linux only "just" sees it after hunting for 30 odd minutes to load . Cant actually copy the data, I/O ( input output) Errors, and so many bad sectors its not funny . Ran a linux ddrescue program - YESSSSSS saw the drive, and was copying the drive . I started on Wednesday last week and its had been running right through to Monday non stop ( 6 days), there was approx 80GB on the drive, shows how bad it was . Well when we had the storm on Monday, we had a power cut around 5 . 30 pm, didn't come back till around 7pm . The poor UPS simply couldn't keep the PC going for that time and finally died -- Along with the HDD . All data LOST and drives now completely dead :crying:crying Cant write what I said here :xmouth:	wainuitech (129)
