1329333 2013-02-23 19:43:00 Coal will eventually have carbon taxes levied against it, which will make it less affordable again. In many respects I see this decline in coal as inevitable, the only uncertainty being when it would happen. Paul.Cov (425)
1329334 2013-02-23 20:13:00 Decline in coal?
Since when?
Everything you use that is made of steel.
Requires coal to make.
It's the carbon in the steel.
Although we could go back to using charcoal to do it.
But that would require huge forests and a whole new (old) infrastructure.
But would be carbon neutral.
Would probably make steel uneconomic for most purposes though.

Steel jewelery anyone? :D

1329335 2013-02-23 21:35:00 I think the world will wake up and get rid of these stupid carbon credits.

The just need to work on more environmentally frieindly processes - which they are all the time.

And when you look at all the developing countries with huge populations who all will want a car and a fridge and a washing machine there will be a huge rise in the demand and use of coal, steel and electricity.

(It gets frightening really)

Uganda they say will have 90 million people soon.
