1329030 2013-02-23 09:43:00 Sooo.... back on topic..... does that mean this forum will be 'just' for help with PC related problems? Because I have to say that is what I thought this forum was for when I joined.... Disco_Dan (16576)
1329031 2013-02-23 10:15:00 3 paragraphs of quote for 3 characters???

I personally don't think that's a good idea, I'm still keen to keep the "Chat" forum open. Depends if thats what you, the members, want or not? We put the chat forum in initially because people were getting bored of labelling threads as "OT" in the main forums.

3 paragraphs of quote for 3 characters???

4 chars, the smiley is two. Does the line break also count? ;)

1329033 2013-02-23 19:03:00 As for the law change, instead of complaining to the mods about how they or fairfax chooses to enforce the new law

Good grief how many times do people have to be told?

It isn’t Law, and is a hell of a long way from ever becoming Law.

The Moderators have deliberately misrepresented the matter to try and support their case. :rolleyes:

Where has this been misrepresented by "The Moderators"?

In his original post, Chill said (grammar police please relax):

<snip>
In a nutshell, there is some laws coming out (the Communications (New Media) bill) that can potentially leave Fairfax a lot more liable for some of the stuff that is said here . Basically Fairfax wanna cover their ass, and they're fully entitled to do-so .
This means certain topics may have less of a "place" here on PF1, specifically topics that arise from the Chat section .

</snip>

This tells me that it is NOT yet law (which I believe is your point) .

As I understand it, this thread is to discuss the implications of such a law and its impact on this forum and to raise awareness of this impending law .

Since it is currently just a bill, it is possible (and desirable) that we, the affected public, make submissions to ensure that it either gets thrown out or is rewritten to be more reasonable (less pandering to the PC brigade and those who feel they have an entitlement not to have their feelings hurt) and less contradictory . . .

1329035 2013-02-23 19:53:00 Again another good post johcar without any of the paranoid replies that seem to be happening.

And that folks, is the whole thing in a nutshell - in my opinion.

Well how about post #50 by Chill just for starters .

"Now, you can be constructive (For a change) with your comments, and step in to line (WITH THE LAW), or you can leave, because Fairfax is not about to be put at risk because of you . Take your pick" .

I will go on if you like .

Please do...

I just read that in context with post #1 and the intended anticipatory nature of this thread....

Ok, I suppose to be fair I should quote Jen as well.

Post #44

“I think some people are ignoring the fact there is a law change (see post#1) that puts PC World and its forums into a difficult position”.

I say yet again, “There is no Law Change!” There is a “Bill” floating around that is a complete non-event as it hasn’t even entered the house yet.
