| 1329000 | 2013-02-22 23:34:00 | Rather than this, why don't those who have an axe to grind, or who seem to have a single-minded obsession on one topic, investigate the possibility of creating themselves a blog site (like whaleoil (http://www.whaleoil.co.nz/)) and publish their opinions there? (I don't necessarily disagree with the posters of these repetitive threads, but the sheer volume of them is more than a little wearing) Hosting of blog sites is often free - and there are certainly a number of good, free and well-supported blog applications available. Actually, sites such as whaleoil are under constant scrutiny by Big Brother, because of their often controversial views and I imagine this will be will be the case even more so when this law is passed, depending on what public submissions are made to it. However having your own site would free you from what some apparently see as the "Fairfax tyranny" and allow these people to express their opinions to their heart's content. There we go! Solutions, not problems!! :D When it comes down to it, PressF1 is a free public forum, however it is owned and run/administered by Fairfax, and they have final say on what can be posted on their site. This is as it should be. Their house, their rules. Just because it's free, doesn't mean it's a free-for-all. Yeah what he said!!!!!!!!!!! |

| 1329001 | 2013-02-22 23:37:00 | The way this chat forum is going reads quite simple. Basically if theres an article published by a Media Source, which Fairfax may or may not have an input from originally, No one is allowed to post / link it here because people get pissed off with the same old BS. It seems the majority of these threads are relating to one race in particular. Its on the news media web sites, or TV (sometimes) - which is all good and well. But heaven help anyone who posts the article here or has a opinion on it, good or bad. Bet ya boots if an article was posted and all the comments were positive ( great Tuis Ad there :D) there wouldn't be any problems at all. |

| 1329004 | 2013-02-22 23:57:00 | You still dont get it do you . Im not making a mountain out of it . Management is trying to discuss and propose some rules on how to behave, and its forum moderators, namely you, sit there and use your position to personally attack other members and call them pricks and think it is totally fine to do so . And all you can say is "it happens, get over it" . ??? You have lost my respect Chill . Go and enjoy your power trip Chill, I wont be part of it and I doubt I'll be part of this board for much longer . Guess what - Mods are human too and we do lose our rag at times . You ought to have seen some of the stuff Bruce Buckman came out with when he was at the end of his tether! It seems the majority of these threads are relating to one race in particular . Do you remember the complaints we got when a certain member decided to make multiple threads all the time about his favourite old TV series and music choices? The solution was simple: create one thread and stick to that . He did and everyone was happy . That thread still has to follow the forum rules so links to pirated music get removed and everyone must be nice . It works . What's the difference here? A solution would be for those with a specific interest in The Treaty of Waitangi Claims etc to express their opinions in a lesser number of threads (maybe new thread every fortnight/month?) while still following the forum rules . This solution has already been offered to the members involved before this thread was created . Thoughts? |

I had read on here several of the mods had suggested that but nothing was done or the concerned members didn't want to do that for some reason or other. Perhaps johcar's suggestion would be quite an idea that could work? |

You have actually answered your own question :) Why not make one thread - it could be moderated - if anything other posts get posted elsewhere, merge into it, That way its all in one place. Anything that doesn't meet the rule could be removed. The problem would arise when someone locks the thread. I dont know if its possible to do this on one thread, but some places while you can post comments they have to be approved by a moderator before being made visable to the general public. May sound like more work - but its something like that or the Moderators will even now have more work trying to keep track of any other threads. Now it comes down to -- Theres a solution offered by yourself - whos going to action it. ? OR could it be like the +1 button thread - goes in the to hard basket :p |

| 1329008 | 2013-02-23 00:43:00 | They have offered to do that before......and got told that it was not what they wanted............. or some such thing....... | beetle (243) | ||
| 1329009 | 2013-02-23 01:16:00 | The same could have been said about the Music thread that Jen mentioned - yet that works OK now. Cant have ya cake and eat it to :) -- So its either do something about it, and enforce it, or theres going to be a lot of work for the moderators "keeping an eye on things". If people start getting banned left right and center for making a comment then soon there would be a forum with no one answering any questions. Theres already been quite a few people not here like there usd to be, and its not to hard to figure out why. ;) |
