| 199173 | 2003-12-10 08:25:00 | Thanks to Martina and Phoenix for suggestions about my spybot problem. Having an open connection to the internet does not help. I think the problem is that there is a download in the pipeline but it cannot install itself because of an error (blockage) The original program was loaded from a PC World CD. When this problem occurred I wiped out the program and reloaded direct from the website but the problem was still there! I cannot be sure whether the bug is in the program or the computer?? I do not know enough to delve deeply into the innards so perhaps the easiest solution is to wipe out Spybot and replace it with Adaware which looks similar? Seasons Greetings from IanS |

| 199174 | 2003-12-10 09:43:00 | Uninstall Spybot then hop up to the FAQ's and read up on computer maintenance. There could be something hanging around in the registry that will require a clean out with whatever regcleaner is recommended in the FAQ. It would be a shame to drop Spybot because it does an excellent job. A lot of people run Spybot and Adaware to make sure they get everything, slightly diff strengths. Cheers Murray P |

| 199178 | 2003-12-11 06:16:00 | I know what you mean. I thought Spybot didn't work on my installation but the problem was the non intuitive buttons for update and run. You think its not working but it isnt , you think its working and it aint I am not complaining its free and my wife managed to get it updated and running. I think the problem is because it is a German. (ha ha who came second in the world wars) program and may have lost something in the translation. cheers tedheath |
