199179 2003-12-10 07:17:00 Hi all

I have just brought a Packard Bell lap-top at Noel Leeming...

however have this strange thing happening...

i have plug everything in (include the battery pack).. and also the AC/DC power plug in to the lap-top as well... when i press the On/Off button, the machine still doesn't want to switch on... (Before I didn't put the battery pack in and put the AC/DC on, the machine still doesn't turn on either)

but on the computer, there is 3 lights on the left, the 2nd light is on at the moment, i know it is charging the battery

is there anything that i need to do in order to turn this thing on???

Thank you very much
Jacky

199180 2003-12-10 07:32:00 What about the boot floppy or disk? As its the first time you have tried to start it, I would assume you would need one of these Baldy (26)

199182 2003-12-10 07:47:00 Jacky, I have a Hewlett Packard ze4315 which I bought a few months back from Noel Leeming. I suspect that you have a faulty machine as these puters are preloaded with the OS (WindowsXP Home) in my case and quite correctly as you say, should not require a boot disk. I suspect you have a faulty power switch/power pack. As it is under warranty, I would take it back. Smurf (506)
199183 2003-12-10 07:57:00 Hi

thanks, i wouldn't rule out this possiblities... because i do see it in the store that, even no battery pack, by pluging the AC/DC the laptop still can turn on!!!

but for anyone out there? is that any more possibilities that prevent the machine being switch on? please list more suggestion...

thanks again

199184 2003-12-10 09:07:00 Straight back to the shop m8.
Mucking around with it would possibly void your warranty
If it's brand new then it's their responsibilty to get it going or replace it.

Bad luck, you got the broken one

Cheers
