| 199879 | 2003-12-12 23:38:00 | What is the processing power of an AMP Athlon XP2600 +PowerNow Prof 45W when compared to a Pentium 4 or Centrino ? I'm looking at an ASUS Notebook L3500D 2600XP. Software used will be graphics intensive and needs to be fast :-) Thanks all ! |

If the Centrino you mwntion is running a celeron then forget it for graphics performance. What you want is good motherboard, graphics card, cpu and ram combo, ei, its the whole combination that will amke it effective for your tasks not just the cpu. If battery life is important then a Centrino comes into play. Have a wonder around here (www.anandtech.com) for some ideas and/or do a search on google for reviews and comparisons. I don't know a whole lot about notebooks but Toshiba do have a good name for making them, whatever flavour of cpu its got inside. Asus I note have some competative deals. Cheers Murray P |
