199776 2003-12-12 07:07:00 Hi everyone, I have 2 machines networked together using TCP//IP. They are both running Win XP pro. I am using 2 wireless network cards in ad hoc configuration.

The problem is that I could not connect to battle net on my client computer., while the server computer connects fine.

I ve tried the default WinXP internet connection sharing with firewall off and now I am using WinGate 5.2.2 and still no luck .... it seem to have trouble detecting that I am connected to the internet through another computer. Apart from that ...everything else works fine, I can surf the net, use ICQ and play other games...etc.

So if anyone have any idea please help ....

199777 2003-12-12 07:46:00 Do both warcraft IIIs have the same CD Key? They could be conflicting maybe MrBeef (342)
199778 2003-12-12 08:07:00 No, they have different CD keys... and besides the error msg that came up doesn't say that the CDkey is being used.. Kenshin (2501)
199779 2003-12-12 08:09:00 Mind sharing the error message? cyberchuck (173)
199780 2003-12-12 09:08:00 the error msg says:

"Unable to connect to battle net"

"You may be trying to connect to an invalid battle.net server
if you are using a modem you may have to manually connect to the internet before connecting to battle.net."

199781 2003-12-12 09:21:00 Ok, go back to ICS for starters as that's easier to work with.

First things first:
1 - can you ping 210.48.100.45? Start > Run > "command" > "ping 210.48.100.45" without the quote marks. If you get Reply from 210.48.100.48 then IP based requests are finding their way onto the big bad net.
2 - can you ping Google? Start > Run > "command" > "ping www.google.com" without the quote marks. If the response comes back reply from.. then DNS' are resolving alright.

If for any of these two you get Request Timed out then you're going to have to check your gateway, and DNS Server settings - which is dependant on the OS you are using.

If the responses come back ok, then I'm going to guess you need to pinhole ICS to forward port XXX to the second machine where port XXX is whatever port battle.net uses to communicate with clients -this is done with some handy dandy Microsoft Utility and you can read more info on it from here (msdn.microsoft.com)

Just a question - you aren't using Wingate as a network proxy and telling everything to access the net through the proxy are you?

199782 2003-12-12 10:09:00 Thx cyber, I can ping both IP with no problem ... and yeah I did do some research and suspected is something to do with port forwarding ....now ...I am not an expert on network and stuff ...so I am not sure how to set that up rit : ( What should I do? if I am using WinXP ics??

and No, I set up wingate to use something the call "ENS" which I can't remember what it stands for....
