199612 2003-12-11 22:11:00 Hi can anyone tell me how to change the default close down option from standby to hibernate with XP
I know I only have to push the Shift key but is there a setting where I can change the Default
Thanks Pete

Set your parameters there.

It's really best to keep Hard Drives always going, and have the screensaver set to blank screen.
This saves the expansion/contraction problems with startup/shutdown.
I've had Hard Drives on continuously for over 10 years, with no troubles, but the same model drive if shut down every day generally falls off the perch after 3-4 years use.
The soldered joints and internal connections inside the chips fail with the thermal changes.
Cheers
