| 199614 | 2003-12-13 02:13:00 | Some applications don't like the hibernate setting. It's really best to keep Hard Drives always going, and have the screensaver set to blank screen. This saves the expansion/contraction problems with startup/shutdown. I've had Hard Drives on continuously for over 10 years, with no troubles, but the same model drive if shut down every day generally falls off the perch after 3-4 years use. The soldered joints and internal connections inside the chips fail with the thermal changes. Cheers |
