200425 2003-12-14 10:53:00 An XBox would be a good option here.... :-) Chilling_Silently (228)

200427 2003-12-14 15:16:00 Its not the best player..no xvid and the videos have to be encoded to the 'home theatre' profile which is average quality.

Best to make your own stripped down computer so it can do the lot.

200428 2003-12-14 18:22:00 do a google search for htpc or home theater pc.. you'll find a wealth of useful information.

just a little tip off.. ascent have a few very affordable 1ghz c3 based epia's in stock

200429 2003-12-14 19:28:00 Bear in mind that while 450Mhz will play very small DivX fiels, you wont be able to do anything high res. In reality I'd recommend you have at least a 733 if pos.

What else do you want this PC to be able to do? Play DVD's? Capture video?

200430 2003-12-17 07:40:00 Na basicly just act as a dumb terminal, no screen, connected to a tv for playing divx...you think 550mhz wouldn cut the chase? sjbryce (2129)
200431 2003-12-17 09:22:00 Should do...
Might not to Hi-res DivX's.... Does somebody with a 550Mhz have a DivX file they can try out?

200432 2003-12-17 09:41:00 I run a:
450
192 Ram
(some) Gfx card with TV Out

Works smooth, if not beeing all to picky regarding High quality or amazing sound quality .

Xbox is a good and nicelooking solution aswell . . .

200433 2003-12-17 10:13:00 Im pretty sure with the DivX Playa you can choose the "quality" settings.. Setting that to lower helps..!

How do you plan on running this box then? VNC?
