2003-12-13 22:33:00 | I have a trial version of m/s rise of nations installed which i have been playing for about 6 months. I was considering buying the full version tomorrow but had a look at the min specs and see that my system is well below the recommended. it says 500mhz and i have only 300mhz, beacause i am running through a 16meg tnt riva, will this off set the 200mhz difference? I have found it runs ok except when i start nuking cities or the screen gets busy with heaps of tanks and stuff, then it stuters a bit. so what i am trying to say is that is the full version going to be any "harder" for my processor to run? hopefully the ghame will run the same in full version as it does in trial. thanks mik

2003-12-13 23:26:00 | The full version runs at a constant 3fps on my 533mhz PIII with a 32mb tnt2. This is with everything turned down to minimum. | Wilky (776) | |

Fair enough your current machine runs the demo but in the full versions there are a lot more extras running in the background . It is quite possible you may not even be able to run the game at all, if you're willing to risk that then go ahead and buy the game . Personally I wouldn't, the last thing I want to be doing is seeing 3- 5 frames every 3 seconds . You want to enjoy the game right . . . I would say your machine is not capable of running the game to provide the minimum amount of satisfaction you would want to get out of the game . As I said earlier it is still your call, but I really wouldn't buy it I f Iwas you, consider a machine upgrade even if it's piece by piece at least then you'd be able to enjoy the game the way it's supposed to be . cheers chief nz |

2003-12-14 02:35:00 | how can you guys even play it at that frame rate. 20-30 fps is barely even playable with most action games. | tweak'e (174) | |
2003-12-14 03:51:00 | As suggested in another thread, Dell's for $1000 at the warehouse. Might be worth a look if rise of nations and such games are your thing. The new machine would be more than capable of running rise of nations at an enjoyable level. | pjg54 (2639) | |

2003-12-14 21:20:00 | Actually, I borrowed the full version of RON, and played it for over a month, and I like AOE 2 much better. I have 2ghz, 256mb ram, Geforce 2 64mb, and it ran a bit slow. Occasionaly on some big games, I would get an out of memory error. | mejobloggs (264) | |
