200236 2003-12-13 21:18:00 Microsoft planning non-standard media for Xbox Next?

"A job advertisement which has appeared on Microsoft's careers website suggests that the company may be considering moving to a proprietary disc format for its next console, in an effort to make piracy on the device more difficult." - full story here.

.NET available for non-Windows platforms

Being Microsoft, you'd think .NET would be a Windows-only innovation. But, happily, it isn't... - full article here.

Microsoft pushes content standard

A NEW group that includes Microsoft and Universal Music is hoping to make it easier to play music and videos across competing technologies. - full story here.

And to finish off todays news, Microsoft have released a video showing how to secure your PC in 3 simple steps... however MP9 is required to view the video ;)

200237 2003-12-14 00:38:00 Hi Mike,
The one thing that is annoying me about Microsoft at the moment, is that Midtown Madness 3 is only available for the XBox!
As a Midtown Madness addict, I am hoping like crazy that I will be able to buy Ver3 to add to my Ver1 & Ver2

200239 2003-12-14 10:25:00 Thanks Mike.

200240 2003-12-14 10:31:00 No matter which way they slice it, XBox-Next will be (IMHO) the biggest target for mod-chips to date, due to its top-line hardware (in the console market).

They are drawing a very fine line between Console and Desktop PC here.... with Linux on the XBox, I s'pose there IS no difference...!?!
