It seems that they put a chip with a high GHZ so that people will buy it. Never mind that its not a performence chip.
People will get stung for the Antivirus Updates after 3 months and the fact they won't get Excel.

It seems its a good computer for first time users, but thats all
But for a thousand bucks, who can complain.

What do people think ?

200093 2003-12-13 04:08:00 i am fussy so no wouldnt touch it without a AGP slot its impossible to upgrade the graphics card and the motherboard is likely to be a cheap one as well , an optical mouse is cheap these days so should have been included . kiwibeat (304)

Who cares, First time buyers will lap it up, and still have some money left over for some other goodies

200096 2003-12-13 04:58:00 It also makes a point of saying that "a CD copy is also provided" for Microsoft XP Home Edition operating system.

Hang on..... we have another thread (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) running on this subject...

200098 2003-12-13 06:04:00 People have to make up their own minds. The fact that they don't get Excel may not matter. Works gives you a spreadsheet, database and wordprocessing and it's all that's needed for most people. This version of Works includes Word which is fine. Elephant (599)
200099 2003-12-13 09:02:00 Yeah its sold out at the Wharehouse in Wainuiomata as well -- looks okay for an entry level system but without an AGP port its seriously lacking in upgarde potential.
Re: Excel -- you can always install Open Office and get a spreadsheet program that way.
On Trade Me you could get better value for $1000 but then you are, essentially, buying pivately (and often 2nd hand) so that has its risks...........
