| 200923 | 2003-12-15 22:09:00 | Got another problem now. 2.8gig pentium4 512ram 80gig hard drive 128mb video card.Windows xp home edition with sp1a service pack incorperated. When loaded into windows you can hide the taskbar and lock items on it as well.But when i reboot and in windows again there is nothing on the taskbar you have to right click on it and click show quick launch then it all pops up again save it and reboot and it does the same thing again have formated 3 times and it still does it. Is this a problem with service pack 1a and how do you remove it if it is. Thanks Mike |

| 200927 | 2003-12-17 01:15:00 | I use XP Home with all service pasks and updates, and do not have this issue therefore its not a generic problem related to service packs? Are you logged in as administrator when you make the changes? |

| 200928 | 2003-12-17 01:54:00 | I had the same problem with win2k, also applies to XP. You need to edit the policies and force allow taskbar, start menu and quick launch changes. No one was able to tell me ( not even mickysoft ) why it only effects some configurations and not others. Do a google search for gpedit.msc and it will help you understand the bits you need to set, or take the plunge and configure the bits yourself. To start gpedit: Start>run>gpedit.msc<enter> P.S. Lots of fun things to play around with if you have multipile users on the PC. As a hint look in User Configuration>Administrative Templates |
