200799 2003-12-15 08:51:00 In the last week or two I have been receiving bounced emails - up to a dozen a day.

The return name in the path varies but it has a random set of numbers and letters followed by my domain name:

eg: "pmmb8ltk@mydomainname"

Now I don't send spam so someone has hijacked my address. The mail is definitely not being sent from my computer.

Is there any way I can track down who is sending it and advise their ISP they have a rogue customer?

200800 2003-12-15 09:19:00 No, someone , I guess, just used your email as ReturnTo: Field. Not that unusual really. Check full headers in the mail you recieved and you will see that the Sent From field is not your IP/Account I believe! peter.jonsson (3024)

You will be very lucky if you do find who is sending the Spam, because they might be using a few different mail server & different IP address so you will have a hard time….

200802 2003-12-15 20:35:00 I`ve had this happen, I even blacklisted myself on mailwasher. brewer (4389)

200804 2003-12-16 01:14:00 Join the club, best policy is to simply delete .If you have Xtra and Mailwasher set up a filter to delete any messages marked by Xtra with [SPAM]. Never bother to bounce Spam as it rarely achieves anything. FrankS (257)

Have you had a look at the email headers. Should have the email server it came from which might hint at something.

200806 2003-12-16 02:22:00 It is not spam she is getting it is returned mail due to the originl spam mail having her domain in the from address.

It will be almost impossible trying to track them down and the best option would be to adjust the mail rules for your domain email.

The ISP hosting your domain name has rules setup to point anything sent to your domain email address to a mailbox for downloading.
At the moment there might just be a default setting which means anything sent to something@mydomainname gets delivered to you.

You can specify specific addresses which you use to be setup such as heather@mydomainname or anything else you want to be sent to your mailbox.

The default setting which collects anything not specified can then be set to go to a non existant or null mailbox and you will never see them
