200770 2003-12-15 08:15:00 Can anyone recommend a good (free) CD ripper to convert music to MP3 please? I've got Musicmatch, but it's limited in the bitrate it can convert, and I don't want anything to do with Real.

I've got the CD for my older Soundblaster card, but I can't work out which piece of software on I used to use for ripping previously (I no longer use that soundcard).

Thx

200771 2003-12-15 08:20:00 Hi Greg :-)

Cdex is the one I use and recommend for ripping from CDs to MP3. Install it as Shareware.

Thx too to Suzzie Bee and others again... I got it earlier, used it and it's wonderful!

200777 2004-01-27 13:05:00 Now, anyone know of a ripper that will encode to Ogg Vorbis? Apparently it's a much better sound quality vs filesize than MP3 Greg S (201)
200778 2004-01-27 13:18:00 Hmm in retrospect I see according to this (www.litexmedia.com) chart that WMA format is almost as good, so I'll probably go with it Greg S (201)
200779 2004-01-27 13:24:00 In retro-retrospect I'm gonna go for Monkeys as it's lossless! :)
