200692 2003-12-16 23:22:00 It says permission denied in the console, even if I do the su - thing. I actually have to log in as root. mejobloggs (264)
200693 2003-12-17 00:21:00 AHhahahaaa. I managed to do it somehow, i foget now.

Anyway, it took me a while, and while I was fiddling, I added about 3 machines to the workgroup. They show up in the windows machines now, except I only wanted to add one, and only one of them works.

How do I delete the other ones? I can't do it from windows for some reason.

200694 2003-12-17 04:00:00 Give them time and they'll dissappear....

If you dont have nano, then use vim or pico or joe.... take ya pick ;-)

200695 2003-12-17 06:42:00 oooh, I see, an editor thing?

I will install joe.

I have all the stuff showing up properly now, using your samba.conf, but I have a problem.

Only the DVD one works, and the other ones ask for a password, or says the drive is not accesable, and the network path is not found.

200696 2003-12-17 06:55:00 Oh, I have gedit.

When I go "gedit smb.conf" in a console, how do I continue after that?
I edited it, then I go back to my console to do something else, and it just types, and i cant do anything

200697 2003-12-17 07:03:00 IF you run:
/etc/rc.d/rc.samba start
That'll start it

run:
/etc/rc.d/rc.samba stop
and it'll stop it

run:
/etc/rc.d/rc.samba restart
and it'll stop it then start it again ;-)

Try restart instead!

200698 2003-12-17 07:16:00 Yeah, I know that.

I think I need to mount them, as the DVD one is the only one mounted, but the rest are not.

I dunno how to mount them though.
mejobloggs (264)
200699 2003-12-17 07:29:00 mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom

:-)

You can then umount /mnt/cdrom
or:
eject cdrom

200700 2003-12-17 08:42:00 So, how do I mount a folder? The same way? mejobloggs (264)
200701 2003-12-17 08:45:00 Is the folder already mounted elsewhere?
If it is, then use:
mount --bind /mnt/hdc1/folder/name /Newmount

What are you trying to do again?
