201334 2003-12-17 20:25:00 I've been following this court case (Murder of Holly and Jessica) from Britian, and was just wanting to share it with ppl as i live alone and it interests me, these court thingys...
Am surprised that they actually sentenced him right after the verdict, unlike here, they give a verdict then a month or so later the sentencing....is there a reason for that? I know this one might be cause if hes guilty, then theres nothing else to give him but 2 life sentences...

If anyone here been folllowing it, do you even think he is guilty...

i'm still reading some transcripts but i honestly dont think he did this alone...yes hes guilty but i beleive someone else was involved too...am not sure if its that Carr lady or a "unidentified" person...

am also glad the Police have admitted they were making mistakes with vetting for new job applications...

201335 2003-12-17 20:41:00 Probably means the sentence is mandatory - ie there is no other sentence for the crime of murder. So no time needs to be wasted on sentencing. Winston001 (3612)
201336 2003-12-17 22:05:00 that would be correct but apparently
theres a new law coming out TOMMORROW meaning life is life...(in England)
and since this courtcase was started/finished before the law comes in 2morrow meaning he wont be in prision for life...
the longest ever term for murder before this law comes out is 50 years for a rape/murder in 1980 or something...

so i'd say he'd get 75 years or so, still life for him since hes in his 20s...
and the decision wont be made for months, probably not till mid/late 2004 as theres already hundreds of court cases waiting for the sentence length to be decided...

201337 2003-12-18 00:09:00 Its only New Zealand that they have to wait 2-3 months to sentence a murderer and then only give them very few years.

Crime pays in New Zealand. Something that really needs to change.
